Breaking Barriers Fund

Thanks to funding received from Macmillan Cancer Support, CRT Together are able to offer a ‘Breaking Barriers Fund’.

The aim of the funding is for the development of services for people affected by cancer in the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board area (Merthyr, RCT and Bridgend Valleys) where there is a clear evidence of need and clear, measurable outcomes. Eligible applicants include community and voluntary sector groups/organisations.

The fund is not intended to support personal costs but enable and test solutions to improve cancer outcomes and access to cancer support services at a local level.

Eligibility Criteria

A black and white drawing of a checklist with three check marks.
  • Your organisation must have an appropriate governing document.
  • You must be able to provide your latest set of accounts, or for new organisations a two year cash flow forecast.
  • You must have a bank account, in the name of your organisation, with at least two unrelated signatories.
  • Your project must be based in the CTMUHB area or show clear and immediate benefits for residents affected by cancer in the area.
  • If applying for capital funding for building improvement, organisations must own the building or have a full repairing and insuring lease with at least five years remaining. And you must have sought the relevant permissions for your project where applicable (e.g. Landlord’s consent, building regulations, planning permissions).

Please note: We are unable to award funding to applicant organisations who we believe are in a poor financial situation, or whose financial management systems are not in good order.

The Breaking Barriers Fund is a rolling programme. There is no deadline for applications and no minimum or maximum level of funding. Each project will be assessed on a value for money and evidence of need basis.

Match Funding

We encourage applicants to contribute 50% match funding, which can include in-kind match funding such as staff time or volunteer time.
